Testimonials

Under Ms. Chew's guidance for eight years, I explored the world of strings music from grade 5 to 12. Beyond the technicalities, Ms. Chew created an atmosphere where learning music was not just about notes but about enjoying the process. Her warm personality and diverse skills set her apart in the world of music education. Ms. Chew wasn't just a teacher; she became a mentor and friend in my musical journey, leaving an authentic love for music that many students, including myself, carry with us. - *Jason Lew, Alumni 2018, Mont Kiara International School*

Having Ms. Chew as the music teacher for both my children over the past 13 years has been a true gift. She's been not only a great mentor and teacher but also a wonderful friend to our family. Her ability to seamlessly blend expertise with genuine care has made the learning experience delightful for both my kids. Ms. Chew's impact extends beyond the classroom, creating a bond that goes beyond teacher and student. I am grateful for her unwavering support and friendship throughout the years. - *Angie Khoo, Parent, Mont Kiara International School*

I have known Yi Chien Chew for more than a dozen years. She is an amazing all around person and an esteemed teaching colleague. As an extremely dedicated music educator, she consistently goes above and beyond to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for her students. Her super friendly and approachable personality instantly puts students at ease, allowing for open communication and a strong teacher-student connection.

What truly sets Yi Chien apart is her innate ability to bring forth the learning potential of every student in her charge. She recognizes and celebrates the unique strengths and talents of each individual, fostering a sense of confidence and empowerment within her students. Through her innovative teaching methods and personalized approach, she ensures that every student feels valued and supported on their musical journey. The students adore her!

Yi Chien goes beyond the call of duty to provide enriching musical experiences for her students. Whether it's organizing captivating performances, arranging collaborative projects, or offering additional guidance outside of class, she consistently goes the extra mile to ensure her students' success.

Her passion for music is contagious, and her dedication to her craft is truly inspiring. Yi Chien is not only a remarkable music educator but also a mentor and role model for her students. I am honored to work alongside such a talented and compassionate colleague, and I have no doubt that her impact on her students will be felt for years to come.

I have had the pleasure of working with Yi Chien Chew in the music department of Mont Kiara International School for the last 2 ½ years. As a veteran music teacher, I have been around many string teachers and their programs, and have become rather accustomed to young string students producing sounds that are squeaky and out of tune. However, Yi Chien’s students have changed all that! Under her guidance, Yi Chien’s pupils play with beautiful intonation and grace. They adore her because she shares her love of music in a manner that builds confidence in themselves and fosters a joy for making music.

Ms. Chew taught me piano and music theory for 7 years, from grades 6-12. She created a warm and welcoming environment while also pushing me to strive to do my best and to consistently set goals for myself as a musician. Under her guidance, I completed music theory exams up to Grade 8 and piano exams up to Diploma level, and won an award for being a top scorer in the region for music theory. Beyond these measurable achievements, learning from Ms. Chew shaped my love for music that has stayed with me until this day. Music lessons with Ms. Chew were always a highlight of my day at school - she is not just a brilliant teacher, but a great mentor and friend who truly cares about all of her students.
